It’s the first Bank Holiday Smashup of the Year!

Bookings are now open for the first of our Bank Holiday smashups as the Street Bangers return for their annual team meeting – if their first meeting of the season was anything to go by there should be plenty of cars and chaos! We have a full Fixture list on the day also featuring Ladies Bangers, Juniors, 1600 Prod Rods, Prod A, Hot Rods and F2 Stox.
No team in the Bangers? No problem! We’re more than happy to have some “lone wolves” to act as wildcards and spice things up!
Teams are a maximum of 4 but happy to take “B” teams or part full teams.

Welcome to Standlake Arena
Our aim is to provide a fair days racing for as many people as possible in a relaxed friendly atmosphere. Any car past its prime can have one final fling round the Standlake oval, whether you want to race or crash there is a class here for you.
There are various non-contact classes and then there’s the Bangers, Bangers and more Bangers at every meeting. We average 50 Bangers per meeting, with the emphasis on FUN you can race anything from a Mini to a Roller, just check the fixtures page for cc limits at individual meetings.
We have a large pit area and spectators can park around the track on the raised banking to watch from the comfort of their cars.
23 meetings are held throughout the year, on Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays with 11am start times. About 30 races are run at each meeting with an average 150 racers competing at each event. There is usually a good turnout of Bangers with an average of 50 – 60 cars at each meeting. The Junior class is also well attended with around 25 cars at most meetings.  Â
We also held a national record with 266 Banger cars in attendance at our Heavy Metal Classic on 2nd January 2005. The Heavy Metal Classic meetings are now recognised as the biggest Banger meeting the country sees each year.
Visiting banger drivers are welcome at any meeting.Â

After a unexpected down pour the night before the show still went on.This was our first time last week. Me & my 3 boys Absolutely enjoyed this event. My 3 year old boy received a trophy from one of the winning race car drivers through the safety fence, He certainly made casper day. Thank you so much

This review is for LEARN2DRIFT that was based at Standlake arena. A few minor negatives, we were sent very accurate details of where the arena was located but we still had to call for further directions, but this is more of a comment for the arena or MP to help for better signage. The arena itself is what you’d expect for a drift/car racing arena, very basic “nascar style” track, BUT it is perfect for LEARN2DRIFT to teach you how to handle a drift car. The one basic improvement I feel the arena could do with would be a basic “catering van” as there is little for spectators. As for the LEARN2DRIFT team, as we were driving from London we got caught in some traffic on the dreaded M25, this caused our arrival time to be close to the start time of the experience, we were provided a contact number for these circumstances, we what’s paper them to keep them posted. When we arrived we got a bit lost, as explained on the directions provided by LEARN2DRIFT we ended up I. An industrial estate opposite the arena , (as mentioned earlier it was not well sign posted) but we called the number and was directed to the arena. Upon arrival we went to the “office” bus where we signed our lives away and paid £10 for an accident waiver just incase we wrote the car off, we had a short briefing and explanation of what the day consisted of. We was there for 1/2 day experience which consisted of: Doughnuts Figure of 8 4 x round a short circuit 6 laps round the track (Driven by a pro) I had the privilege of being taught by a lady called Jules, it was like I was being taught by a friend that I have know for years, despite feeling a little anxious even tho I have driven for 20+ years this is completely different lol, Jules put that all to bed with her demonstration, while drifting with one leg out the window, to demonstrate how easy it is. After a quick demonstration you are then let loose at the wheel, with the instructor beside you guiding you through every step, correcting you where you go wrong By the end of the experience I started to get the hang of things leaving me wanting more.

Went to see banger racing was good day out. If like me never been before it is a good spectators sport as can see all the action no matter where you where stood recommend bringing your own chair, good atmosphere .

A very nice track, had 30 races at the Trigger Memorial meeting. It was a really good day out, the banger racing was very good. It was very hot and unfortunately though there was no ice cream van.

All meetings are open for public spectating with free trackside parking (you need to be early at busy meetings!).
Parking is free.
Dogs are welcome, on a lead – but please clear up behind them.
Gates open 8am, first race 11.00am, meetings can finish anytime between 4.30 to 6pm.

Learn2Drift at Standlake Arena
Public Drift Days
Members of the public can bring their own cars for a Drift on the watered track. Everyone has a lot of fun and Drifters get loads of track time for their money. Quite a few Standlake Arena racers are now turning up at these events for an extra buzz.
Anyone with a rear wheel drive car can attend these public days even cars that are on the road, just remember though it's you driving and down to you whether you get round or tangle with the armco barrier.
