About Us
There has been racing at Standlake since 1972 and it originally started off as a dirt track. In April 1983 the Hook family took over the promotion of it and are still running it today. After the first meeting the decision was taken to concrete the bends and later on that season the straights were done. The promotion of the track changed hands in the mid 90’s from Mike Hook, to his son Keith.
The track originally had a ditch running around the outside and although it was fairly popular amongst racers, the decision was taken in 1995 to replace the ditch with the current Armco barrier. The following winter the race control building was moved from what is now the back straight to its current location, giving the track its current layout.
In recent years many changes have taken place to the arena, shortly after the Armco went up the spectator area was raised a foot or so to give a better view, the bank around the outside of the arena has been raised to comply with planning permission and the main entrance to the arena has been changed as well.
It’s a fun family day out!
“Good access all around the track and into the pit area. Parking within sight of the track which would be ideal on a rainy day. 27 races on the day we went which is far more than I would expect elsewhere.”

“Been coming and watching racing here since I was a kid. Would recommend it to anyone with any sort of interest in grass roots motorsports.”

Members of the public can bring their own cars for a Drift on the watered track. Everyone has a lot of fun and Drifters get loads of track time for their money. Quite a few Standlake Arena racers are now turning up at these events for an extra buzz.
Anyone with a rear wheel drive car can attend these public days even cars that are on the road, just remember though it's you driving and down to you whether you get round or tangle with the armco barrier.
