Bookings are OPEN for the June 21st Festival of Bilge meeting 😎

Pre ’96 1400cc Bangers – Sunday 21st June

Contact myself, Jamie Waller-Jones or Christian Bonkers Doughty to book in, please let us know what you’re planning on racing as this helps plan the day and we can work out if we need to split fwd and rwd for the heats.
Below are the build rules, and all other information you may need for the meeting – some was covered in the previous post but some is new so please read.

CAR ELIGIBILITY

Maximum 1400cc pre-1996, either front wheel drive or rear wheel drive. Open to anything under 1400cc RWD except cars listed on the ‘not permitted’ list. Front wheel drive cars ideally will be listed on the ‘Micro bangers’ list, any front wheel drive car that isn’t listed on the ‘Micro Bangers’ list must be approved first so please ask. If it’s pre 96, under 1400cc and unusual or fits the spirit of the meeting, chances are we will say yes.

The following cars are not permitted:

Nissan Almera
Nissan Sunny N14 (‘bubble’ shape)
Nissan Micra K11
Nissan 100NX
Honda Civic (5th Gen onwards inc. Del Sol)
Vauxhall Astra Mk.3
Ford Escort Mk.5
Ford Fiesta Mk.4/5
Ford Ka
Toyota Corolla (E90 6th Gen onwards)
Rover 214 Mk.2
Honda Concerto
Ford Cortina Mk.4/5
Ford Capri
Ford Sierra
It goes without saying if you have something you are unsure of, please ask first!

Build rules (please read)

As this is a standalone entirely different meeting to the norm at Standlake, the following build rules are in place, sort of roughly following other ‘small old car’ type meetings:
Two side plates, and either two bonnet bolts with corner plates or four bonnet bolts. Two bolts in boot.
Sensible dizzy guards allowed on engines, absolutely no drain covers or excessive guards, if in doubt please ask.
Engines swaps allowed however no K Series or Zetecs. If you’re unsure, please ask.
Two solid engine mounts allowed
Bulkhead and L shape watertanks allowed however L shape tanks must come no further forward than the engine block
No Falkens/Uniroyals/Alaska’s/knobbly tyres. Tyre gaitors/tubes allowed.
MOT spec welding repairs, with the exception of the drivers door which can be welded more for safety.

Other meeting info:

The aim is for this to be a fun day smashing up old junk that isn’t suitable for racing at the ‘big car’ pre meetings or in other unders banger classes. If the meeting is well enough subscribed the idea is to split the front and rear wheel drive cars for the heats, which will be run to lighter contact rules, and then depending on turnout a heavier mixed final and an all in full contact allcomers/DD to finish.
